Clearly modern Christians aren’t upholding rules against eating shellfish, and calling for the murder of betrothed women who are found not to be virgins. Why should they, is not Christianity about the life, teachings and supposed divinity of Jesus Christ? What do pre-Christian traditions have to do with those things?

If one accepts that objective truth exists, then it is impossible to define with certainty the nature of that truth, it becomes a matter of opinion no matter how strongly the opinion is held.
